61 percent of New Yorkers are concerned about being a victim of a crime, according to a new poll from the Siena College Research Institute. 21 percent say they are “very concerned” and 40 percent say they are “somewhat concerned.” Nearly 9 in 10 respondents think crime is a serious problem in the state and nearly 6 in 10 say it’s a serious problem in their community. New York City residents are most concerned, according to the poll. Poll director Dr. Don Levy says 40 percent of respondents have spent more than $100 on security measures.
